# STOP THE TORTURE CAMPAIGN

The Yulin Dog Meat Festival, which happens every year on the summer solstice, is a particularly gruesome display of the dog meat trade.

This “Festival”, where some 10,000 dogs are slaughtered and served up as meals. These thousands of dogs are beaten, killed, and eventually eaten by people who believe eating dog meat on this day will bring good luck

Our mission is to build strong relationships between dog-loving communities in the United States and animal advocates around the world, including mainland China. By starting with Yulin and the Guangdong Province, the two most notorious in China, we can start a domino effect across the world. Our ultimate goal is to create an environment where all dogs are treated with the compassion and respect that they rightfully deserve.
Lisa Vanderpump
As a passionate dog lover and a person who has been an adamant supporter of our four legged friends, I have come to a place in my life where I have found that my seven dogs have become my actual children – each with their own voice, their own soul. And they each hold a very special and dear place in my heart.
As if my seven sexy little beauties weren’t evident enough of the tender hearts these beings contain – I have had the honor of judging and partaking in the Hero Dog Awards, sponsored by the American Humane Association the past four years. I have met and gotten to know the most remarkable companions. They are so much more to us than food and they continue to prove that each and every day. They are our eyes for the blind, provide therapy for post-traumatic stress survivors, arson dogs, they have been able to predict certain cancers in humans and are companions for the companionless. Dogs are so sensitive to humans’ need they can actually predict seizures. These are just a FEW reasons (I could go on for days) why we should be as sensitive and compassionate to their needs. They are truly “Human’s Best Friend”!
And to think that these poor dogs in China are being latched from their homes – tortured, beaten and boiled alive. The images that I have seen and that are contained in this website have deeply affected my everyday life. Each day that passes that this terrible festival rages on a part of me crumbles. Our four legged friends do not receive the credit that they deserve and I want to use whatever platform I have been blessed with to gain attention to the meat trade in China and STOP YULIN FOREVER.

Yulin Dog Meat Festival 2018 Update

Humane Society International reports from their Chinese activist contacts who have been going to Yulin for many years, that Yulin this year has been a more muted affair. Certainly there have still been the typical scenes of piles of blowtorched dog carcasses for sale on the stalls that are so hard to watch, and dogs and cat are still dying at Yulin in numbers that are hard to comprehend, neverthless the sale of dogs was not observed in the volume of years past, and locals have been saying the same. Many of the dog meat restaurants were busy, but most only until 9 pm and restaurants workerswere often having to call to people on the street to encourage them to come and eat. We`ve heard that the Yulin authorities have been claiming fewer western activists were in Yulin this year, and the's probably true but that's not necessarily a bad thing -many foreign activists have realized that descending on Yulin is not necessarily helping the longer term campaign, and it's far better to support Chinese groups and empower them to create change from within. That strategic shift is important and needs to happen. Also, China's new Foreign NGO Law is preventing many groups from openly operating on the groun in Yulin, placing new restrictions on their movements that we've not seen previously. There is enormous Chinese opposition to the dog meat trade, and the more visible that gets the closer we are to dismantling this dreadfully cruel and crime-fueled trade.

This organization was founded out of necessity. I stand by the idealized philosophy that every living creature has a soul that feels deeply. These dogs that are killed each year for “luck” do not have a voice – so please help us give a voice to these amazing animals and join our march October 4th.
